About Greennect
Greennect is a Dutch sustainability consultancy built specifically for small businesses and co-working spaces that receive ESG questions from clients, banks, or landlords and need to respond appropriately without a full-time sustainability hire.
We work through fixed-price service packs, no open-ended retainers, no vague scopes. Each engagement has a clear starting point, a defined output, and a timeline. When we finish, you own the evidence folder and the system your team uses going forward.
Our Story
Greennect started from a straightforward observation. Most ESG support available to small businesses was built for companies with compliance departments, legal teams, and dedicated sustainability staff. The frameworks were complex, the consultants were expensive, and the outputs were reports that small teams could not maintain or reuse.
At the same time, the pressure on Dutch SMEs was growing. Clients were adding sustainability requirements to supplier contracts. Banks were asking for environmental data before approving financing. Government tenders were scoring MVO criteria. Small teams were getting questions they had no system to answer.
Greennect was created to close that gap. We help Dutch SMEs, co-working operators, and suppliers respond to sustainability questions already being raised by clients, banks, and landlords, with honest documentation, a reusable evidence folder, and a process that their teams can maintain without specialist knowledge.
We do not sell certifications you do not need or reports nobody asked for. We start with the specific request in front of you, structure what your business already has, and leave you with a system that handles the next request faster.
Every business is different. We start there.
What works for a 12-person supplier in Rotterdam does not work for a co-working space in Amsterdam or a family business bidding on its first government tender.
We do not sell a standard framework and ask you to fit into it. Every engagement starts with your specific situation, the request you received, the deadline you are facing, and what your business already has.
The pack structure gives you a defined output and a clear price. Everything inside it is built around you.
Built for the gap the law created
The EU raised the mandatory sustainability reporting threshold so high that most Dutch SMEs fell entirely out of legal scope.
The compliance obligation disappeared. But clients kept sending questionnaires. Banks kept asking for green financing data. Tenders kept scoring MVO criteria.
Greennect was built specifically for this gap, where the regulatory obligation ended but the commercial pressure did not. We are not a compliance tool. We are a response system for the questions already sitting in your inbox.
The new EU standard for SMEs, and we help you use it
Honest sustainability support. No overclaiming
The EU introduced the Voluntary Sustainability Standard for SMEs (VSME) as a recognised, structured way for smaller businesses to document and share sustainability performance without the complexity of the full CSRD framework.
We are one of the first Dutch consultancies helping SMEs adopt it. For Annual Pack clients, the VSME setup is built into the first quarter of the engagement.
The result is a disclosure document that banks, procurement teams, and corporate clients increasingly reference, ready to share at any time of year.
Most ESG help available to small businesses comes in one of two forms: expensive consultants built for large companies, or cheap templates that produce reports nobody reads.
Both pose the same risk, and sustainability claims that cannot be substantiated. That is greenwashing, even when it is accidental.
We exist because small teams deserve support that is proportionate to their size, honest about what they actually do, and specific enough to hold up under close scrutiny from a client, bank, or procurement team. We do not help you say more than you can prove.
POLICY ALIGNMENT & IMPACT
How our work connects to broader goals
The work we do with individual businesses adds up. When a small team reduces energy use, improves waste handling, and documents its environmental performance honestly, it contributes to something larger than one questionnaire response.
Dutch Climate Act Alignment
The Netherlands has committed to significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors, including small and medium-sized businesses.
By helping Dutch SMEs measure, reduce, and document their environmental impact in practical ways, our work supports that direction without adding unnecessary burden to teams with limited capacity.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
Our work connects most directly to three goals.
-
SDG 13: Climate action, through helping businesses reduce their operational environmental impact.
-
SDG 8: decent work and economic growth, by making sustainability commercially viable for small businesses, rather than a cost they cannot afford
-
SDG 12: responsible consumption and production, through workplace audits that reduce waste and energy use in daily operations.
